Brunch Music :: E.G. Phillips
Songwriter EG Phillips of San Francisco will bop by the Brentwood Social House for brunch Saturday, August 17th from 10 am to noon.
Last in town for SxSW, where he played a showcase at the The Jackalope, E.G. looks forward to the chance to play in the intimate acoustic setting this neighborhood gathering place provides.
Phillips pens tunes that are his own special blend of whimsy and cinematic imagery which he uses to give a wry take on dealing with the longings of the heart and the madness of existence. His jazz-influenced alt-folk stylings are both unusual and also exceedingly catchy. While claiming to front a "fake band" called "Ducks With Pants," his affinity for troubadours like of Bob Dylan will be readily apparent while his dry wit and stage presence will bring to mind Tom Lehreŗ for those of a certain age, or just those in the know.
Calling him "a rising singer-songwriter" of the Bay Area music scene, SF Weekly says Phillips infuses "his vivid lyricism with subtle humor and hints of pop-culture awareness." Tracks from his latest album "At Home At Sea" have premiered in Glide Magazine, Vents Magazine Street Team Page, AmericanaUK and Americana Highways
