Join Dr. Tara Smith to discuss her work in progress on self-esteem with Q&A. Tara Smith is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin, where she has taught since 1989. Smith holds the BB&T Chair for the Study of Objectivism and is the Anthem Foundation Fellow. A specialist in legal, moral, and political philosophy, her most recent book is "Judicial Review in an Objective Legal System" (Cambridge, 2015). Other books are "Ayn Rand’s Normative Ethics: The Virtuous Egoist" (2006), "Viable Values: A Study of Life as the Root and Reward of Morality" (2000), and "Moral Rights and Political Freedom" (1995). Smith’s scholarly articles span such subjects as rights conflicts, welfare rights, justice in everyday life, forgiveness, friendship, pride, moral perfection, egoistic friendship, the nature of objectivity, the value of sports to the serious fan, and Ayn Rand’s novels The Fountainhead, We The Living, and Atlas Shrugged. She has lectured on these subjects around the world (from Israel to Brazil, Oslo to Oxford). She has published several pieces on standards of judicial review and also speaks on intellectual freedom (primarily, religious freedom and freedom of speech).
